Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare where love and conflict ultimately ended two young devoted lovers life. The conflict between the Romeo’s family the Montague’s and Juliet’s family the Capulet’s, force Romeo and Juliet to conduct their relationship in secret. The ongoing feud and hatred between the Montague and Capulet fuel the haste without any thought about their actions. Their Choice to marry, Romeo’s banishment and their final minutes of their life were all done without telling anyone adding to the feud between the two family’s.
From the instant that that Romeo and Juliet eyes meet their love and relationship is conducted in haste and secret because of the feud between the two family’s. Their choice to marry was the first example of this. When Romeo and Juliet meet at the Capulet party Romeos heart is sold on Juliet. He would give anything for her which makes him the decide to climb into the Capulet’s walled garden, a rather rash decision. Romeo love overpowers his rational thinking risking his life just to talk to Juliet not thinking about the consequences of his actions. “If they see me they will murder me” despite Romeo knowing the peril that he is getting himself into Romeo ignores the danger. Romeo know that a open relationship would be out of the question so Romeo and Juliet are forced to rush into the decision to get marred which in other circumstance would take preparation and planning. ” I have no joy of this contract tonight. It is too rash, too unadvised, too sudden.” This is foreshadowing of their fate due to their rushed and thoughtless interaction. I wouldn’t even be cable to comprehend marrying someone and being so young let alone only knowing them for a couple of hours. I guess that teenagers are stereotypical very rash and have a reputation of rushing and do not think about their actions. Romeo and Juliet’s relationship are driven on hate which still happens now. Lots of family’s are driven of hate and violence. This means that even though the play was written 500 years ago family’s have not really changed.
The anger and hate between the Capulet and Montague had had a huge affect on Romeo. When he see his Best friend Murdered all his anger and pain gets to much and he does something rather rash without thinking about his actions. When the young Capulet’s and Montague’s meet on the Streets of Verona Benvolio already knows that there meeting will not be a friendly one. Tybalt is being rude to Mercutio and Mercutio is rising to it. Romeo try’s to calm the situation because of his relationship with Juliet but it does nothing.” And so, good Capulet- which name I tender as dearly as my own-be satisfied.” Because of Romeo being is a relationship with Juliet he doesn’t want anything to happen to the Montague and Capulet’s alike. Tybalt and Mercutio draw there weapon and when Romeo try’s to protect Mercutio but Tybalt strikes down Mercutio ” A plague on both your houses” exclaims Mercutio who is slowly dying. This quote obviously is means that because of the two family’s hatred he has been killed. A plague back then was a deadly disease that you would want to catch. In the pure anger against the Capulet’s he draws his swords and kills Tybalt, not thinking of the consequences of his actions. I can see the reason that Romeo killed Tybalt. He had just seen his best friend been killed. Even though he tried to stop the fight sometimes it can just get to much. Once again Romeo does something without thinking about his actions and making his relationship with Juliet harder. Lots of relationships are full of anger had hate so Shakespeare again made the play very relatable even though it was written 500 years ago.
The decisions for Romeo and Juliet to end there lives was because they thought that it was the only was to escape there life, there family’s hate, there only was to be together. Because of there secret relationship and Romeos banishment Friar Lawrence and Juliet decide that the only was for Juliet to be with Romeo is that Juliet must fake her death. Friar Lawrence give Juliet a sleeping potion and writes a letter to Romeo to explain the plan. The problem is that the letter never made it to Romeo and Balthazar comes to tell Romeo that Juliet is dead. ” Is it even even so? Then I defy you, stars.” Romeo say this because he is made his mind up that the only way to fix what going on is to kill himself. Romeo the goes to the apothecary to get poison to kill himself. Romeo goes into Juliet tomb to kill himself so he can go to heaven with Juliet. Romeo drinks the poison and dies. ” This is thy sheath, there rust, and let me die” Juliet is so distort that she thinks that her only option is to kill herself so that she could be with Romeo. It seems a bit silly to me that because of your wife dying the only option is to kill yourself. Even though it would be the worst thing that could probably happen to you there are still lots of things you can enjoy in life. I guess in Romeo and Juliet situation that they couldn’t live with the family’s hatred and they had just had enough and the only way for them to be together is in heaven.
Conflict and hate between the Capulet’s and the Montague’s were the reason that Romeo and Juliet and to make so many rash decisions without thinking about the consequence in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The decisions to marry, Romeo’s banishment and the final acts of suicide were the result of the endless and turbulent family’s feud and impulsive decisions. On reading this it play outlines the importance of thorough, sensible well thought out decisions while thinking about the consequence.
